Doctors, and other healthcare providers, work hard to make their patients comfortable in the course of caregiving. They take the lead in restoring us during the hardest parts of our lives, when we are ill or injured.
While all these happen, they rarely get the recognition they deserve from patients and society.

Recently however, a family member (resident in the USA) of a treated patient, has expressed joy and gratitude to the management of the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, UNTH Ituku Ozalla, Enugu, for the outstanding care they received in the hands of their kind and hardworking medical team, led by a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon, Dr Emmanuel Nnadi, who managed the reconstruction of an almost hopeless case as seen in the video above.

In the course of his stay in the hospital, the patient, who had a background illness of ulcerative colitis, was also managed by a wonderful team comprising General surgeons, Gastroenterologists, Dermatologists, Nutritionists, Nurses, Physiotherapists, Haematologists and Ophthalmologists. This shows the beauty of teamwork in medical practice.

The thank you message was contained in a text message from a relative of the patient to the Chief Medical Director, which reads, ” Thanks so much to your amazing team at UNTH. Dr Nnadi and her team, who you referred this patient to, did a great job of saving his leg. The family extends their gratitude and thanks.”

The UNTH management uses this opportunity again to thank all those involved in the management of this patient, and urges all her staff to continue to show dedication in the course of attending to our patients.
