UNTH STAFF EMPOWERED ON NHIA IMPLEMENTATION
The Chief Medical Director of the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Ituku/Ozalla, Prof. Obinna Onodugo, has once again stressed the need for staff attitudinal change in order for the hospital to attain her desired SafeCare level. The CMD stated this during the training of UNTH staff on National Health Insurance Agency (NHIA) implementation process.
In his words, “there is a real need for us to step up our game. Even if we build the most beautiful edifice and there is no change in our attitude as staff, the hospital will still not make any meaningful progress in our quest to secure a higher SafeCare rating. He encouraged staff to do all within their power to help reduce the stress patients go through in order to access health care in the hospital.

In a speech, the Coordinator, National Health Insurance Agency, Enugu State, who are the organizers of the training, Dr. Ken Ugwu, said that he and his team are in UNTH to partner with Management so that the Institution can make faster progress in the delivery of health care to patients. He noted that UNTH, as the foremost health care facility in the South-East, should be a standard. He commended the CMD and his Management for leading from the front while pledging the continuous support of NHIA in every way possible in order to move UNTH forward.

The training, which took place at the Cafeteria, treated topics such as Comprehensive Emergency Obstetrics and Neonatal Care (CEMONC), Current Changes in NHIA Business Process and Leadership, and Hygiene in Health Insurance. There was also a breakout session.
Present during the training are UNTH top Management, ably led by the CMD, and representatives from clinical and nonclinical departments.
