THE PRESIDENT OF THE NATIONAL SOCIETY OF PHYSIOTHERAPY PAYS A COURTESY VISIT TO UNTH MANAGEMENT

The President of the National Society of Physiotherapy (NSP), Dr. Felix Odusunya, paid a courtesy visit to the Management of the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Ituku/Ozalla, Enugu. The event took place on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at the Chief Medical Director’s office. Dr. Odusunya, who was on a state visit, was led to the CMD’s office by the Head, Department of Physiotherapy Services, Dr. (Mrs.) Chinwe Obiekwe. He was accompanied by Dr. Chinedu Mbah, a member of the NSP-NEC; Dr. (Mrs.) Ngozi Chimereze, Chairperson, Enugu chapter; and Dr. Rita Emeh, a member of the NSP Enugu Executive.

Prof. Obinna Onodugo, CMD, received the team on behalf of the management. Dr. Odusunya commended the cordial relationship between the management and the Department of Physiotherapy Services, referring to UNTH as one of the strongest health institutions in Nigeria. He appealed to the Chief Medical Director for more sponsorships of physiotherapists for training/conferences and professional examinations, especially those of the Post-Graduate College of Physiotherapy. Dr. Odusunya thanked the Chief Medical Director for increasing the internship slots of the department to 54.

In response, Prof. Onodugo described the Department of Physiotherapy Services as very organized and eulogized Dr. (Mrs.) Obiekwe, whom he introduced as a hard-working and serious business-minded individual who is not given to unnecessary banter. Professor Onodugo acknowledged the financial challenges facing the hospital and promised to assist through training and sponsorship as much as available funds can accommodate. He called on all staff of the hospital to be dedicated to their work to move the hospital to an enviable height.
