UNTH PARTNERS WITH GOVT ON RADIOTHERAPY EQUIPMENT UPGRADE

The Management of the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Ituku/Ozalla, Enugu, yesterday, 15th April, 2026, played host to Dr. Chinedu Arua, a senior consultant radiation and clinical oncologist, who came under the auspices of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. The visit aims to partner with UNTH on radiological equipment intervention, ensuring access to radiotherapy.


The programme, when functional, will provide linear accelerators to hospitals with oncology facilities and those without. Dr. Arua said they are at UNTH for a needs assessment.

The Chief Medical Director, Prof. Obinna Onodugo, represented by the CMAC, Dr. Charles Nonyelu, thanked President Tinubu for prioritizing health care. He assured that UNTH management will ensure the equipment is well-managed and utilized effectively when provided to benefit patients.
Present were Dr. Ifeyinwa Nwafia (DCMAC, Radiological and Laboratory Services), Dr. Ken Nwankwor (HOD, Oncology), and Engr. Ayeteni.
