Biography

Dr Nkiru Folaranmi received her medical education at the Dental School of  the University of Benin.

She started her post graduate training in Orthodontics in 1996 at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital , Benin City. She became a Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons after completing her post graduate training in Orthodontics in 2003.

Dr Folaranmi was employed  into the University of Nigeria in 2005 where she became the pioneer staff and Head of the Department of Child Dental Health. She pioneered both undergraduate and postgraduate orthodontic training and care delivery in the South Eastern Region of Nigeria. She is currently a Senior Lecturer in Orthodontics. She has published several articles in both local and peer reviewed international journals. She has also attended several local and international workshops/training and conferences.

Dr Nkiru Folaranmi was the Interim Chairman of the Nigerian Dental Association (NDA) in Enugu State and she successfully organized elections to establish  the association in the state. She spent three tenures as the Secretary – General of the Nigerian Association of Orthodontists and is currently the Vice President, Nigerian Association of Orthodontists and Co-ordinator, South     East Orthodontic Awareness Team.

She is also a consultant to a number of Health Management Organizations. Dr Folaranmi is married with 3 children.
