Innovation distinguishes the leader from the led…Steve Jones

The University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH) Management, in partnership with Ondigo Technologies, has launched an Integrated Transport Payment System.

While introducing the project to the Management of the Hospital, a member of Ondigo Technologies, Dr. Onyia Godswill, explained that the technology is a digital method of collecting transport fares.
In his words, “A passenger only needs to obtain the company’s smart card and tap it on the payment terminal held by the driver, then the fare is then automatically deducted. I thank UNTH for the contract and guarantee them 100% revenue from the buses, eliminating fund shortages due to driver dishonesty and fund siphoning.
We promise to install DVR cameras inside the buses for surveillance, aiming to ensure deepened passenger safety.”

The Chief Medical Director, Prof. Obinna Onodugo, expressed delight at the innovation. He said, “Working with ONDIGO, we are taking a big step forward in bringing secure, seamless, and efficient payment solutions to the facility, ensuring revenue security. This is just the beginning, and we’re excited about the future of smart payments. The staff of UNTH will now make smart fare payments in the staff buses using a reloadable contactless payment card on a smart payment terminal through a ‘tap’. This is a major milestone in our mission to revolutionize payment methods, eliminating the hassles of searching for ‘change’ and ultimately making the daily commutes of our dear staff to be secure, faster, and more convenient.”.

The occasion was graced with the presence of the Chairman Medical Advisory Committee, Prof. Joy Eze, the Director of Administration, Mrs. Uche Obi, the Acting Director of Finance, Mr. Emma Okoro, the SSA/Head of PPMO, Dr. Obinna Okwesili and other members of the administrative board.
