The Management of the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Ituku/Ozalla, Enugu, has taken delivery of a unit of giant refrigerator, courtesy of a United Kingdom based Research Institute, known as Bernard and Balance Institute.

The product, which was manufactured by Hisense Electronics, was presented by the Head, Microbiology Department, Dr Ebede to the Chairman Medical Advisory Committee, C(MAC), Prof. Joy Eze who represented the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Obinna Onodugo.

During the presentation, Dr. Samuel Ebede said, “This Research Institute is in UNTH to commence a study on the Burden of Sepsis, (infection of the blood, on all age groups.) The fridge will be of great help to the Department and this study is going on simultaneously in some top Hospitals in the country, including the National Hospital, Abuja. The Chief Investigator is Prof. Timothy Welch, while Dr Ifeyinwa Nwafia is the site investigator”

In her remark, Prof. Eze expressed gratitude to the Institute for the kind gesture while pledging the Management’s cooperation, to ensure that the programme yields the desired result.

Present during the occasion were, D(CMAC) in-charge of Laboratory Services and Radiation Medicine, Associate Prof. Salome Ezeofor and the Protocol Team from public Relations Unit.
