UNTH HELD ITS FIRST TOWN HALL MEETING OF THE YEAR 2025 ON JULY 1ST, 2025

The event was a platform for staff to discuss and engage directly with the Hospital leadership and share ideas, voice concerns, and discuss key issues affecting the institution.
In his opening remark in the meeting, the Chief Medical Director (CMD), Professor Obinna Onodugo, emphasized the importance of open communication and encouraged staff to speak freely, regardless of their language or expression.

He enjoined staff to be committed to excellence, warning that consistent negligence of duties would attract disciplinary actions.
The CMD highlighted ongoing efforts to enhance hospital security and construct residential quarters within the hospital premises, which will improve staff well-being and reduce transportation costs.

The hospital’s excellent performance in the recently concluded PharmAccess assessment was applauded by the CMD, who described it as a significant achievement.
He promised that a new policy to monitor attendance and improve accountability would be announced, which will target absenteeism and failure to clock in during working hours.

Staff were given the opportunity to air their views and ask questions, which were addressed by the CMD.
– A lecture on retirement planning was delivered by Mr. Okechukwu Okeke Ezeh, Branch Manager of Access
– A briefing on the staff welfare scheme was provided by Mr. Emmanuel Okoro, Director of Finance and Accounts
– A session on land and house acquisition was hosted by Dantatech Group in collaboration with Comrade Alamba Ugochukwu, NASU Chairman.
– The PRO choir delivered a musical presentation during the event.

The town hall meeting was well-attended by key stakeholders, including the Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee, Prof. Joy Ezeh; the Director of Administration, Mrs. Uche Obi; the Director of Finance, Mr. Emmanuel Okoro; Deputy CMACs, Heads of Departments, Union leaders, and members of staff.

Overall, the town hall meeting provided a valuable opportunity for staff to engage with hospital leadership and discuss key issues affecting the institution. The event demonstrated the hospital’s commitment to open communication, accountability, and staff well-being.
