UNTH MANAGEMENT OPENS CONDOLENCE REGISTER IN HONOUR OF LATE PROFESSOR BONNY NWAKOBY

The Management of the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Ituku/Ozalla, Enugu, formally opened a condolence register at the reception of the Administration Building on Monday, March 30th, 2026, in honour of the late Prof. Bonny Nwakoby, who served as the Chief Medical Director of the hospital from 1996 to 2002.


The Chief Medical Director, Prof. Obinna Onodugo, was represented by Dr. Charles Nonyelu (C-MAC) at the event. In his speech, Dr. Nonyelu remarked that the late Prof. Nwakoby was a committed physician and an administrator par excellence who gave his best while in service. He urged members of staff to emulate his passion for hard work and humility while in the service of the hospital. He also encouraged the staff of the hospital to find time to sign the condolence register as a mark of respect to the late former CMD.


Other members of the management team who later signed the condolence register include the Director of Administration, Mrs. Uche Chinwe Obi; Director of Finance and Accounts, Mr. Emmanuel Okoro; Heads of Department: Mrs. Ngozi Okwulehie (Works), Mrs. Joy Unigwe (Nursing Services), Mrs. Chinwe Obiekwe (Physiotherapy), Nwachukwu Ugwunna (representing Community Medicine), and Associate Professor Theresa Nwagha (CEO, UNTH Foundation).
