The Nursing Services Division (NSD), University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Ituku/Ozalla, Enugu, has organized this year’s Annual Mandatory Update Course for Deputy Directors (DDNs) and Assistant Directors (ADNs) of the hospital.

The grand finale of the training was held on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at the Continuing Education and Research Unit of the Division.

The theme of this year’s training is “Empowering UNTH Nurses for Better Quality Health Care.” The training was aimed at enhancing nurses’ skills and keep them updated on modern practices.
The training began on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, and featured comprehensive lectures designed to improve nurses’ efficiency and effectiveness, equipping them to compete globally.

Topics covered included the digital application of NANDAA, NIC, and NOC, Tracheostomy care, quality patient care, emotional intelligence, pain and stress management, and also the legal implications of negligence in nursing practice.

Lady Eunice Eze, Deputy Director in Charge of Administration, expressed her gratitude to the Chief Medical Director, Professor Obinna Onudugo, and his Management for providing a supportive environment for nursing practice in the hospital.
She also commended the Director of Nursing Services, Lady Joy Unigwe, for organizing the training in collaboration with the Continuing Education Unit.
Going further, she said, “This program is essential as it will help in phasing out outdated nursing practices and equipping them with modern techniques.

Assistant Director of Nursing (ADN), Lady Crystal Onyejekwe, highlighted that the training was designed to keep nurses informed on the evolving global healthcare practices.

Despite being conducted in batches, the program recorded full attendance, reflecting the participants’ enthusiasm for professional growth.
