School of Nursing

The school runs the General Nursing programme which is for a period of three years. Application for entry into the school starts December and ends in January of the next year. The entrance examination into the school takes place around April each year while the interview is in June. About sixty (60) students are admitted yearly and they start training in October.

School of Biomedical Technology

The Department offers technical expertise and assistance to all departments of the hospital and its affiliates and seeks to ensure the safety and effectiveness of their scientific and medical instrumentation. She also runs a monotechnic established by the Federal Ministry of Health to train biomedical equipment technicians.

School of Health Information Management

The School started with Part I of the programme leading to National Diploma of the Health Records Officers Registration Board of Nigeria. Prospective candidates must possess minimum entry qualification of Senior Secondary School Certificate with credits in five subjects which must include English Language, Mathematics and Biology/Health Science.

School of Midwifery

The School of Midwifery of the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital UNTH), Ituku-Ozalla, Enugu State, is a Post Basic School for nurses who have had their general nursing education.  The training is only for qualified nurses who are duly registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN). The programme runs for 18 months

Cardiothoracic Nursing School

The aim of the school is to equip the nurse with pertinent knowledge, attitude and skill in cardiothoracic intensive care nursing, to provide efficient and effective nursing care to cardiothoracic patients and the critically ill at large and to promote the advancement of cardiothoracic nursing in Nigeria. The programme runs for 12 months.

Post Basic Ophthalmic Nursing School

The scientific and technological advances in Health Care delivery coupled with increasing incidence of preventable blindness within the society, necessitate the establishment of programme of training for ophthalmic Nursing. The vision of the school is to prevent and treat eye diseases. The programme runs for a duration of 12 months.

School of Health Information Management

The School’s main thrust has been the training of middle level manpower for Health industries in areas of data generation and processing. The programme has been structured with a view of exposing prospective students to the core and elective courses through a comprehensive two-year programme leading to the award of National Diploma/Higher National Diploma.

Post Basic Nursing Anaesthestist Programme

The Nurse Anesthetist training programme is of 18 months duration. The courses in the programme are designed to 400 level course, arranged in three semesters and with a prefix of NAP (Nurse Anaesthetist Programme).  Annually, fresh students are admitted in April, to graduate in the month of November the following year.

Peri Operative Nursing School

The objectives of this programme include to train students for a more qualitative care in the pre, intra and post operative period, to utilize the nursing process in providing efficient and effective Perioperative nursing care, to assist the patient to cope with biological and environmental changes experience during the Perioperative phases.

Community Health Officer Training

CHO Training Programme is a professional Programme designed to train Community Health Officers’ to become the most senior of the Community Health Practitioners in Nigeria. The School admits candidates into its programme of four semesters – two years programme leading to the award of Higher Diploma in Community Health.
