The Management of the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Ituku/Ozalla, Enugu, on Wednesday, 30th July, 2025, organized a one-day training for staff at the Senior Staff Cafeteria. The training focused on occupational safety and health/standard operating procedures.

The Chief Medical Director, Prof. Obinna Onodugo, represented by the Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee, Prof. Joy Eze, commended the DCMAC in charge of Radiological and Laboratory Services, Ass. Prof. Salome Ezeofor, for her efforts in making the training a reality. She also appreciated the committee for providing a comprehensive document on Occupational Safety and Health/SOPs and praised the Environmental Team for their good work.

The Chairman of the committee, Prof. Emmanuel Aguwa, stated that the training aimed to equip staff with knowledge on protecting themselves against hazards while performing their duties. The training covered various topics, including:

– Background to health policy development in UNTH by Ass. Prof. Salome Ezeofor
– Objectives of Operational Safety and Health Policy & Standard Operating Procedures by Prof. E. Aguwa
– Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation by Dr. Augustine Ikechukwu Nlewedum
– Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) by Dr. Kachy
– Incident Management by Dr. Ochie Casmir
– Prevention & Management of fire outbreaks by Mr. Jude Abonyi
– Roles of Security during Emergencies by Mr. Barnabas Osuagwu

In her closing remarks, the Director of Administration, Mrs. Uche Obi, thanked the committee members and presenters for their tireless efforts. The training concluded with a group photograph featuring the Management Team and some hospital members.
