The Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH) Ituku/Ozalla, Prof. Obinna Onodugo, has vowed to redouble his efforts in making the institution the first point of call in healthcare delivery in the country.

This commitment was made shortly after he was conferred with double chieftaincy titles of Odoziobodo (Nation Builder) 1 of UNTH and Eze Mbanabo (King of Two Nations) of Ituku and Ozalla Communities.

Prof Onodugo expressed his gratitude to the House Officers who organized the event, citing their commitment and the significance of the traditional rulers who performed the conferment as reasons for accepting the honor.

The CMD also praised the House Officers’ Representative, Dr Agbom, for his exceptional leadership qualities and urged him to continue his good work.

The conferment ceremony was performed by the Okorouba the 2nd of Okorouba kingdom, Ozalla Community, HRM Igwe Amaechi Onovo, and HRM, Igwe Silas Iloabuchi Okafor, Ajudo 1 of Akudo Enugwu-Eze Ituku Community, who described Prof. Onodugo as deserving of the honour based on his transformation of the hospital in just six years.

The event was part of the House Officers’ Week, which aimed to celebrate the CMD’s contributions to the welfare of House Officers and recognize the dedication of some doctors.

The House Officers’ Week, themed “Celebrating Unity in Diversity,” featured various activities, including a lecture on culture and traditional dances, and was attended by core members of UNTH management, including the CMAC, Dr. Charles Nonyelu; the DA, Mrs. Uche Obi; the DFA, Mr. Emma Okoro; and others.
