INSTITUTE OF HUMAN VIROLOGY OF NIGERIA VISITS UNTH
A team from the Institute of Human Virology of Nigeria on Tuesday 9th July, 2024, visited the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital Ituku/Ozalla. The team which comprises Dr. Kenneth Enwerem and Mr Kazeem Ayodeji, in a courtesy call to Management, said that the visit is a routine one, which is aimed at checking up on the Acute Febrile Illness Surveillance project of the Institute domiciled in the Virology Unit of Microbiology Department, UNTH.
In his response, the Chief Medical Director, Prof Obinna Onodugo, represented by the Chairman Medical Advisory Committee, Prof Joy Eze, thanked the team for the visit and for their interest in nurturing the AFI Centre in UNTH.
The Acute Febrile Illness Surveillance project was set up to check the causes of all other types of fevers in humans, that are not malaria and typhoid. The project which has been on in UNTH since 2022, has Dr. Uche Unigwe, Chief Consultant, Infectious Diseases, as the Site Lead.
