The Permanent Secretary Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Daju Kachollom S. mni, has commended the Chief Medical Director, University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Ituku/Ozalla, Enugu, Prof Obinna Onodugo for their exceptional leadership style, that has endeared the hospital Management to the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.

The PSH who was in UNTH on Official Tour in the company of the Director of Hospital Services, Dr Jimoh Saludeen and other aids, conveyed her thoughts during a meeting in CMD”s Office. She stated that the CMD has proven to be a very dynamic and sociable leader who carries everyone along as can be observed in the industrial harmony being enjoyed in the hospital. In her words “the CMD is not just a leader but a teacher and a warm personality that exhumes a lot of confidence in his staff.”

The PSH further commended the Management on the installation of an NDPR- compliant proprietary data processing infrastructure known as the UburuAI and hoped other hospitals would take a cue from UNTH on how to digitize their processes. She expressed optimism that her Ministry would work more closely with the hospital Management.

Earlier in his address captioned “State of the Hospital Address”, the CMD welcomed the PSH and her team to UNTH. He then went on to list some achievements recorded so far under his watch as CMD to include the reconstruction and tarring of road networks within the hospital, construction of new and befitting ultra-modern gate, revitalization of the Radio diagnosis centre, to mention but a few.

Prof Onodugo expressed great delight with the level of cooperation that Management is having with the Ministry since the current PSH took over. In his words “since the PSH came in, the kind of support we’ve been getting from the Ministry is just unbelievable “.

The commissioned Family Medicine Extension Building

The visit continued with projects inspection, which took the PSH to the Oncology Clinic, Radiotherapy Centre, the ICU, Main Theater, Family Medicine Department and Radiology Department.

High points of the visit are the official commissioning of the Family Medicine Department Extension and the signing of the UNTH Visitor’s Book.
