The University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH), Ituku/Ozalla, Enugu, received a donation of medical supplies from the Novo Nordisk Haemophilia Foundation on July 30, 2025. This donation marks a significant milestone in the hospital’s efforts to improve healthcare outcomes for individuals with haemophilia.

Associate Professor Helen Okoye, Team Lead and Head of the Haematology/Immunology Department, received the donated items under the project titled “Strengthening Comprehensive Care in Seven Haemophilia Treatment Centers in Nigeria.” She expressed gratitude to the Novo Nordisk Foundation for their continued partnership and investment in improving care for patients with bleeding disorders.

Professor Joy Eze, Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC) and representative of the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Obinna Onodugo, commended the Haematology Department’s outstanding achievements and significant contributions. She praised Associate Professor Helen Okoye, stating that the successful grant award demonstrated the department’s expertise and capacity in grant management.

The donated medical supplies include:

1. A semi-automated Coagulometer (SYSMEX CA-104)
2. Substantial quantities of reagents for haemophilia diagnosis
3. 10 wheelchairs
4. 5 pairs of crutches
5. Training for 4 medical personnel in haemophilia diagnosis and management
6. Sponsorship for partitioning some areas in the Haematology Department
